Explore a simpler way of life with a trip on the Amish Trail in New York State. Along the way you'll encounter a distinctive way of life that is grounded in faith and community and intentionally separated from our modern world.
The Amish are known, not only for their culture, but also their finely made, hand-crafted goods such as quilts, rugs, baked goods, jams, candy, furniture, baskets, woodworking, toys, leather, and more. Unlike some found in Ohio or Pennsylvania, there is no one "Amish Store." What you'll find are small individual Amish businesses adorned with small signs indicating what they sell.
While much of the Amish Trail is located in the "Enchanted Mountains of Western New York State" (Cattaraugus County), the trail extends into Chautauqua County as well. An interactive map on the Amish Trail website will help you get started. Be sure to add New York State Amish country the itinerary for your trip to the Chautauqua region. Just bear in mind that all Amish shops are closed on Sundays.
